Transforming the Stockholm Globe arena into the Las Vegas Sphere
I live close to the Stockholm Globe arena (aka Avicii Arena) located in Sweden. It is a giant spherical building built in 1988 where you can watch hockey and concerts. After first seeing the Las Vegas Sphere I immediately wondered how it would look like if you turned the Globe arena into the Las Vegas sphere?
It would have looked like the artwork in this project!
I made it in Blender and rendered with Eevee. In hindsight the cars might drive a little too fast (which people complained about when I posted it on socials). Otherwise people were happy and it got 57k views on TikTok!

This is the Stockholm Globe arena (aka Avicii Arena) - a giant sphere where you can watch hockey or concerts completed in 1988.
I started by making a 3d model of the Globe arena in Blender.
The smiley animation is a set of 3d models animated in Blender using shape keys...
which you then render using an orthographic camera into still images.
The background image is based on a Google maps print screen which was turned into a 3d scene using fspy.
The 3d models were combined and I projected the smiley animation on-top of the Globe 3d model.

The cars (which may drive a little too fast in hindsight) are the same Volvo car over and over again animated to follow a curve.
